New Redmi phone could come with 64MP lens – photo sample teased by Xiaomi

It’s been a while since Redmi had people talking – despite the launch of the Redmi 7A, the Xiaomi sub-brand has been relatively quiet of late. Well, not anymore – the brand had posted on Weibo teasing a photo sample of what looks to be an upcoming Redmi device’s photography quality.

The smartphone world is still debating the actual real-life uses of 48MP lenses now, even though we’ve had the tech for some time now. We typically get images that aren’t all that much sharper than your standard 12MP shots. There’s of course terms like pixel binning and what not, but we’re not getting into that right now.

Samsung recently introduced their 64MP lens and there’s a chance that the Redmi could be using it, but no details of the specs have been released yet. With this little teaser from Xiaomi, we can expect it to arrive sometime this year, and it probably wouldn’t break the bank – which means this could pave way for more smartphones to come with 64MP lenses.

Needless to say, we’re excited for it because that means more stuff for us to test out!
