Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro officially launched in Malaysia – Pro variant has 64MP lens and MediaTek Helio G90T chipset

Xiaomi has officially announced the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro in the country – seven months after its predecessor was first introduced. Seems like a thing now to release a follow-up device so soon after the model it’s supposed to replace – Vivo did the same thing with the Vivo V17 Pro.

Also like the Vivo V17 Pro is that the Redmi Note 8 series will both come with a quad-camera setup. The regular Redmi Note 8 will come wit a 6.3-inch FHD+ dot-drop display. At the back, you’ll find a 48MP lens, 8MP ultra-wide angle camera, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor.

At the front is a 13MP selfie shooter that’s capable of shooting panorama shots. Under the hood, you’ll find a humble Snapdragon 665 chipset, and up to 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. The phone is powered with a respectably-sized 4,000mAh battery that charges via USB C and supports fast charging of up to 18W.

Moving on to the Redmi Note 8 Pro, you get a massive 6.53-inch FHD+ display. At the back, you get a similar setup, except the main lens here is a 64MP one that’s powered by an ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor.

For selfies, you’ll get a higher resolution 16MP lens. In terms of hardware, the phone sports the MediaTek Helio G90T gaming-centric chipset. Memory configurations are 6GB RAM with up to 128GB internal storage. Here, you’ll find a bigger 4,500mAh battery that charges with USB C, and supports up to 18W fast charging as well.

The Redmi Note 8 is priced from RM599, while the Redmi Note 8 Pro is priced from RM1,099. Pre-orders begin today until 11 October. You can purchase it via Redmi’s official online stores at Lazada and Shopee.
