Redmi launches the Redmi Note 7, bringing tough competition into the mid-segment market

Just a day after the launch of Samsung’s new A series smartphones, Redmi answers right back with the introduction of the Redmi Note 7, a new entry to the very competitive mid-segment market.

The phone is essentially a rebadged Xiaomi Note 7 Pro. Like its Xiaomi counterpart, the Redmi is a 6.3-inch mammoth featuring a FHD+ Dot Drop display as well as a curved glass back.

Over at the back, the Note 7 sports a dual-camera setup with an impressive 48MP main lens that’s coupled with a standard 5MP depth sensor; again similar to the Xiaomi. The front camera is a 13MP lens which supports several AI capabilities.

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 7 comes with a Snapdragon 660 chipset, and option of 3GB + 32GB ROM; 4GB + 64GB ROM; or 4GB + 128GB memory configurations. The Redmi Note 7 is powered by a very capable 4,000mAh battery. The phone also sports a Type-C port and supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.

In terms of features, the Note 7 comes with a back-mounted fingerprint sensor, and AI face unlock. The phone comes in three very pretty colors – Neptune Blue, Nebula Red and Space Black.

The phone is priced at RM679 for 3GB + 32GB; RM799 for 4GB + 64GB; and RM949 for 4GB + 128GB, making it a worthy consideration if you’re not into Samsung’s A30 and A50 devices.
