Earlier this week, Xiaomi VP and Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing confirmed that the company is working on a Redmi-branded flagship smartphone featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset. The executive has now been spotted using the device at a mall in China.
As you can see in the image above, Weibing is holding the phone in his hand. While the phone isn’t seen very clearly, we can tell that it does not have any notch in the display. It is highly likely that the phone will have a pop-up selfie camera similar to a few recent OPPO and Vivo smartphones.
In addition to the image showing the Redmi flagship in Weibing’s hand, alleged specifications of the phone have been leaked on Chinese microblogging site Weibo. According to the latest leak, Redmi’s upcoming flagship smartphone will have a 6.39-inch sized display with 1080 x 2340 Full HD+ resolution. In terms of memory, the phone is expected to be available with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
Moving on to optics, the leak suggests the phone will come equipped with a 48MP + 8MP + 13MP triple-camera setup on the back. The smartphone is tipped to sport a 32MP resolution snapper for selfies and video calls. If rumors are to be believed, the Snapdragon 855-powered flagship smartphone from Redmi will go official next month.
