Realme has just launched the successor to the Realme 3 and 3 Pro in India today, with the Chinese superstitious number ‘4’ in mind, its latest smartphones are officially called the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro.
Both Realme 5 devices sport a quad-camera setup, with the Realme 5 Pro having a better set of lenses that comprises of a 48MP f/1.8 main camera, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle lens, a 2MP portrait lens and a 2MP macro lens, which the last lens being a rather interesting one since no other smartphones have introduced lenses for macro photography.
The Realme 5 however has its primary shooter’s resolution water down to a 12MP lens, while the other lenses have the same application as its Pro brother.
Interestingly, the Realme 5 Series feature a splash resistant design, which is a great value added feature that isn’t available on most mid-range phones.
While Realme is working on distancing from OPPO’s ColorOS software, the phones will ship with ColorOS 6 based on Android Pie. The Realme 5 will go on sale starting August 27th in India with a starting price from Rs. 9999 (RM583), while the Realme 5 Pro will go on sale a week later on September 4th with a starting price from Rs. 13999 (RM816).
