Razer is famous for its gaming products and today Razer’s second flagship gaming phone has arrived in Malaysia, and it is the Razer Phone’s successor, the Razer Phone 2.
The Razer Phone 2 comes with a 5.7-inch UltraMotion IGZO display with 120Hz refresh rate which allows smoother gameplay. In addition, its display is now 50% brighter than the display on the first Razer Phone as it comes with 580 nits and it is equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and has IP67 for higher durability with water and dust resistance.
Unlike most of the phones these days, the Razer Phone 2 remains with the traditional design of thick bezels and no notch because it is more ergonomic for users to game on their phones. To further enhance the gaming experience, the Razer Phone 2 comes with dual stereo front facing speakers that comes with Dolby Atmos technology. The Razer Phone 2 is also the only phone to support HDR and Dolby Digital 5.1 in Netflix.
The Razer Phone 2 is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 845 processor with Adreno 630 GPU, which the company claims to increase the phone’s performance up to 30% more than its predecessor. It comes with 8GB RAM and 64GB storage, but it can be expanded up to 1TB via microSD card. With the Razer Vapor Chamber Cooling system, the phone has industry-leading thermal cooling to prevent overheating while maintaining high frame rates so that gamers don’t lose out on the gaming experience even when they’re playing extensively.
The Razer Phone 2 is also powered by the Razer Chroma which is based on the RGB lighting system, and this can be seen on the Razer logo on its back which is customisable and has several lighting options. Users can set their notifications to different colours based on different apps so that when the logo lights up at the back of the phone, users can easily tell where the notifications are coming from.
Besides that, the phone also comes with better dual camera setup consisting of a 12MP wide-angle lens that has OIS and a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x zoom. It also has a 8MP selfie camera that allows Full HD resolution in video streaming, and with the improvements to its sensors and software upgrade, the camera is better in low-light images.
With a 4000mAh battery, the Razer Phone 2 is capable of lasting up to 10 hours even when its 120Hz refresh rate, and with its glass back, the phone now supports wireless charging, though the wireless charger will need to be purchase separately. The phone also supports QuickCharge 4+ so users can actually charge the phone from 0% to 50% in just half an hour through a USB-C cable.
The Razer Phone 2 can be purchased at the price of RM3,449 at all authorised retailers and also online at Lazada and Shopee. However, those who are interested can purchase the phone telco with plans at Maxis and U Mobile.
