Qualcomm hints at a new OnePlus handset with its Snapdragon 821 chipset

Rumors of a OnePlus 3T could indeed be real, especially after a special teaser by chip making company Qualcomm. Qualcomm has brought to its Twitter feed a surprise announcement, stating that something new from OnePlus is in the works and that the device will be powered by Qualcomm’s own Snapdragon 821 processor. This revives the recent rumors that have surrounded OnePlus with an alleged OnePlus 3T handset.

Not too long ago, several rumors have arose regarding a slightly more improved and refreshed version of the OnePlus 3, said to be named the OnePlus 3T. One of the initial rumors that emerged was that the OnePlus 3T will be reverting back to using LCD panels, considering the fact that the OnePlus 3 had negative impressions and reviews regarding its AMOLED pen tile display. However, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei was quick to shoot down the rumors, claiming that the company will be using AMOLED panels for the foreseeable future.

Other rumors suggest that the OnePlus 3T will sport a Sony IMX395 sensor for its rear camera, with a wider f/1.7 aperture, retaining the 16 megapixels. Alongside the Snapdragon 821 chip, the handset is expected to retain its massive 6GB RAM configuration, coupled with 64GB of non-expandable storage. A recent claim by popular tipster Evan Blass tells us that the OnePlus 3T will get a 10 percent increase in battery capacity from 3,000mAh to 3,300mAh, and will cost $80 (RM336.00) more than the current OnePlus 3.

We certainly do hope that OnePlus won’t keep us waiting for too long, now that Qualcomm has dropped a major hint. What do you think?
