PS4 5.50 update brings Supersampling mode for HDTVs, Play Time Management and custom wallpapers

With the Lunar New Year Sale in full swing and Sony releasing a 15% discount voucher code to everyone, the company is still in gear to release the latest PlayStation 4 update which will greatly benefit users that are using a PS4 Pro on an HDTV.

The update will enable Supersampling Mode which will allow users to enjoy enhanced visuals on selected PS4 titles even if they are not using a 4K TV. With the settings enabled, games will be rendered in 4K resolutions and downscaled to match the 1080p resolution HDTVs have, effectively allowing users to enjoy better details in games.

Other than that, there is a Play Time Management feature that will allow parents to limit the play time for their kids that have accounts logged into the console. You can even manage these accounts using the browser. Lastly, users will finally be able to use their own wallpapers by simply plugging in a USB PenDrive, transfer the image and set it as a wallpaper.

It is nice that Sony is finally allowing users to have their own wallpaper and more control over the PS4 as it feels like these are features that should be implemented at launch. Sadly, there is no indication of when the 5.50 update will be pushed, but those of you that have signed up for beta updates are able to try it out now.
