Pokemon GO adds gen 2 Pokemon, new Berries, new Evolution and more

The Pokemon GO craze may have died down quickly in Malaysia where anything that’s viral won’t last long, but the hype and legacy that has been carried on by the app still sits in the hearts of true diehard fans worldwide. The Pokemon GO team is finally rewarding patient players with this long awaited and rumored update – gen 2 Pokemon.

According to the Pokemon GO official website, the team has expanded the world in the app by adding more than 80 new Pokemon that were discovered in the Johto region. This means that players will be able to encounter and catch Pokemon that were available in Pokemon Gold and Silver. Speaking of encounters, the app now has a new encounter gameplay, whereby wild Pokemon will react in new different ways when you stumble upon them.

In terms of evolution, some first gen Pokemon can now evolve to second gen Pokemon, with the addition of 80+ new Pokemon. The team has also added two new berries to the Pokemon GO app – the Nanab Berry which slows Pokemon down when catching them and Pinap Berries which doubles your Candy rewards upon the next successful attempt of catching a Pokemon. Last but not least, new avatars and clothes have been added into the app for a more customizable experience with your own avatar.

The new features definitely account for a massive update for the Pokemon GO app, but don’t get too excited just yet. The update isn’t available just yet on the Google Play Store and the App Store, but do keep a look out by the end of this week.
