After weeks of being a beta, Sony will finally be publishing System Software Update 4.00 later today, bringing with it a slew of UI changes and additions, as well as HDR to all PS4 consoles.
Codenamed Shingen, System Software Update 4.00 will come with new system backgrounds, a revised What’s New tab, updated popup notifications, overhauled Quick Menu and Share Menus and many more changes, making the PS4 UI easier to navigate. Also bundled with the update is High Dynamic Range (HDR) support, which Sony mentioned was coming to all PlayStation 4 consoles back at the PlayStation Meeting even in New York last week.
Interestingly enough, System Software Update 4.00 will come with some updates that are tailored for the PS4 Pro, even though the console won’t be out until November. Some of the features that will be made available on the PS4 Pro via the 4.00 Update includes 1080p streaming for Share Play and Remote Play on PC, Mac and compatible Xperia devices, as well as 1080p 30/60FPS live broadcasting on YouTube, and 30FPS broadcasting on Twitch.
