Pixel 2 XL users report overheating and charging issues

It has been a couple of months since the release of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL and we have seen that the phone has been plagued with multiple issues like clicking sounds and burnt out screens. It looks like the issues are still coming in as some users are reporting that their phones are overheating and has battery charging issues.

Users are reporting that the phone is warm even while on standby and the battery life has been reduced. Some users are experiencing one of the problems and some are experiencing both issues, the problems seem to show up after February’s security update but there is not enough evidence that the update is the cause of the issue. Android Police has conducted an investigation and found that the Pixel 2 XL charges at less than 4W in low temperature but it still shows the Charging Rapidly on the lock screen.

Google is looking into the display message bug and might remove the Charging Rapidly on the lock screen in future updates.
