Pixel 2 users complain about useless headphone jack dongles

The omission of the 3.5 mm headphone jack has been increasing among smartphones as of late. With the emergence of more wireless and USB Type-C headphones, consumers in the smartphone world are beginning the embrace the dongle life for their smartphones. Google has surprisingly stripped its Pixel lineup of the 3.5 mm headphone jack after heavily advertising its existence on the first Pixel iteration last year. Not that it is a bad thing, but numerous users have raised the issue of the provided dongle not working when used.

According to a thread on the Pixel User Community, there have been complains about the USB Type-C to headphone jack adapter not working on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, and this extends to third party dongles for some users, which means that the problem lies within the Pixel 2 series hardware or software. Some users have claimed the issue to be fixed after the latest software update, while some stated that it works only in Safe Mode. A number of users mentioned that the dongle only works when using certain apps, while audio will still fire out through the speakers on other apps.

Regardless, this issue has yet to be officially fixed by Google. Let’s hope that the Pixel 2 users do not regret shifting over to living the dongle life. Is your Pixel 2 affected? Let us know at the comments section below!
