More Pixel 2 than iPhone handsets activated last weekend

Christmas is one of the greatest excuses to buy gifts for ourselves. This of course includes new smartphones, with the countless Christmas special promos by retailers and smartphone manufacturers made available out there. After the whole big story about the iPhone 6 being slowed down on purpose through its latest software update, it looks like Apple’s iPhones weren’t the most popular phones last weekend.

According to Localytics, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL received the most activations during Christmas weekend, beating Apple’s collection of 2017 iPhones – iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. The Pixel 2 accounted for 38.61 percent of phones activated while the larger Pixel 2 XL claims second spot at 31.41 percent. The iPhone X is third with 28.72 percent, while the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus follow behind at 17.7 percent and 13.98 percent respectively.

The rest of the top ten include three of Apple’s iPads – 2nd gen 12.9-inch iPad Pro, 5th gen iPad and the 10.5-inch iPad Pro, followed by Samsung’s flagships the Galaxy Note 8 and the Galaxy S8 at 9th and 10th places respectively.

Shifting our attention to the top of the table once again, goes to show that the Pixel 2 series turned out to be the more popular handsets than the iPhones. But do bear in mind that these are only activation figures.
