People now watch one billion hours of YouTube everyday

YouTube has come a long way now since it started. The video streaming site played a big part in the advancement of video quality. Gone are the 240p video days with the current optimal resolution being 1080p, along with an increasing number of 4K content, plus a handful of 8K ones. The platform is also responsible for the careers of some YouTube personalities we see today. Fun fact: the most viewed video on YouTube still remains to be PSY’s Gangnam Style, with only a quarter of a million views shy from 3 billion. Speaking of billion, YouTube has achieved a milestone no one has before – we now watch one billion hours of YouTube every single day.

One billion hours a day is quite a feat for YouTube, which is still the most popular video streaming platform today. View counts are often the centre of attention, but now YouTube’s newly reached milestone definitely deserves to be acknowledged. It is a great achievement, but not a surprising one regardless. The age of the internet results in the increasing number of people with access to the internet. On top of that, the growing number of content creators with their respective audiences no doubt play a huge role in YouTube;s current success.

Most of us are “victims” to media consumption. How many hours do you spend watching YouTube content in a day? Let us know your thoughts at the comments section below!
