Over $1 billion spent on shopping from mobile devices on Black Friday

Online shopping is becoming increasingly convenient over the years. As lazy as it may sound, shoppers can shop from their mobile devices without having to get out of bed if possible. You probably took advantage of some sort of deal last Friday while shopping. Black Friday sales are well known for crazy deals and price slashes from retailers and various stores, not to mention causing excessively crowded stores and possible stampedes in the US. This year, Adobe has reported a record $1.2 billion (RM5.35 billion) spent via mobile shopping alone on Black Friday.

According to a report by Adobe, the $1.2 billion figure was the first day in retail history in terms of mobile revenue. Over $5 billion (RM22.3 billion) was reportedly spent over the course of Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday, with Black Friday accounting for a staggering $3.34 billion (RM14.89 billion). Majority of the website visits on Black Friday are from mobile devices at 55 percent (45 percent from smartphones and 10 percent from tablets), and mobile devices account for 36 percent of the overall sales.

The report has also listed down the top five selling electronic products on Black Friday – iPads, Samsung’s 4K TV’s, the Macbook Air, LG TV’s and the Xbox. DJI Phantom Drones managed to take a place over the top five list of toys sold on Black Friday. We’re expecting Cyber Monday to bring out such staggering figures as well before the reports come out. What do you think?
