Oppo to launch the much improved R9s Plus on March 1st

Oppo isn’t letting go the heat of its new R9s smartphone, apart from teasing a 5x camera technology in MWC 2017, the company has sent out a media invite and will be debuting the R9s Plus smartphone here next week, it is the larger sibling of the R9s that features a significant specs bump from the R9s. The R9s Plus sports a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor mated to 6GB of RAM, a 6-inch Full HD IPS display, an optically stabilized 16-megapixel camera with a huge f/1.7 aperture and larger 1/2.3″ sensor, and a 4000mAh battery that supports its very own VOOC Fast Charging technology.

At this time of writing, the R9s Plus is available for preorder over at Taiwan and retails at NTD17,990 (MYR2600), which is a significant price bump from the R9s that retails at MYR1,798. With the additional cost of taxes and the weakening Ringgit, the Oppo R9s Plus is expected to be sold at the price of RM2,698, which positions itself with devices like the Huawei Mate 9, the recently launched HTC U Ultra and even Samsung’s Galaxy S7. This is probably going to be Oppo’s most expensive device to date and you are obviously paying for a its huge camera sensor with OIS, while not having a flagship Snapdragon processor may disappoint some folks.

If you have been waiting for the Oppo R9s’ arrival, March 1st is the date to save as Oppo may begin taking preorders. Stay tuned.
