OPPO launches Reno6 5G and Reno6 Z 5G in Malaysia; priced from RM1,699

We see new additions to the Reno lineup every few months; this time, it’s the OPPO Reno6 5G and the Reno6 Z 5G.

Reno6 5G

Between the two phones, the Reno6 5G is the more powerful one as it is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G chip. It comes with 8GB of RAM paired with 128GB of storage and supports RAM expansion — a technology that uses storage space as additional RAM when necessary.

Similar to the previous Reno5 5G phone, the new model has a 6.4-inch AMOLED display that supports 90Hz refresh rate; it also comes with a 32MP selfie camera.

On the rear, we’re getting one less camera — the 2MP mono lens is no longer included. Instead, you’re getting a 64MP lens paired with an 8MP wide angle camera and a 2MP macro lens.

These cameras offer several features that Reno fans are already familiar with — Portrait Beautification Video, Bokeh Flare Portrait and Dual-View Video. However, OPPO also introduced Focus Tracking, a new feature that focuses on the subject for consistent and steady shooting.

Reno6 Z 5G

The Reno6 Z doesn’t differ much from its sibling, but it does have its sacrifices. It uses the MediaTek Dimensity 800U 5G chip and has the same storage configuration, but doesn’t support RAM expansion.

Despite having a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, it doesn’t come with 90Hz refresh rate. However, this phone is lighter than the Reno6 5G.

That being said, the two phones have similar camera setups — both front and back. The Reno6 Z has a 4,310mAh battery while the Reno6 has a 4,300mAh battery, but the latter supports 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 while the former supports 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0.

Price and availability

Both the Reno6 5G and Reno6 Z 5G are available at RM2,399 and RM1,699 respectively. Pre-orders begin from August 5 and will end on August 13 — you’ll be entitled to gifts worth up to RM779, including the OPPO Enco Buds.

Both phones are available in two colours — Aurora and Stellar Black. You can get it from My OPPO Space, OPPO Brand Stores, OPPO Official Online Store and more.

The Reno6 series sales will begin from August 14 and is also available from the stores and platforms mentioned above.
