OPPO Reno4 series launched in Malaysia: Starts from RM1,699

The OPPO Reno4 series is here and it improves on its predecessor (which was launched just three months ago) with better hardware across the board. You can check out our unboxing here:

OPPO Reno4

Starting with the OPPO Reno4, you get a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a dual punch-hole cutout which houses the 32MP selfie lens and the Smart Sensor which we’ll talk about later.

On the back, you get a matte finish that has a tacky feel to it – the phone comes in two flavours, Galactic Blue and Space Black. Here, you’ll find the phone’s quad-camera setup which consists of a 48MP main lens (Sony IMX 586 sensor), an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, a 2MP mono lens, and a 2MP macro shooter which replaces the Reno3’s telephoto camera.

Photography features include shooting at 108MP mode using the Extra HD mode which you can find in Expert mode. There’s also Night Selfie mode and Ultra Dark Mode for shooting in lowlight situations. For the creative folk, there’s also AI colour portrait video or monochrome video too, which adds extra flare to your films.

Under the hood is a Snapdragon 720G chipset, which is a very capable mid-range chipset. It’s complemented with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, with support for up to 256GB of expandable storage using a microSD card.

Powering the device is a 4,015mAh battery with support for up to 30W of VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge.

Now let’s talk about the Smart Sensor lens that we mentioned earlier – this camera allows for the useful smart spying prevention feature that hides your notifications if it detects a pair of eyes peering at your display. It also allows for Smart AirControls which lets you perform actions.

OPPO Reno4 Pro

Moving on to the OPPO Reno4 Pro – it comes with a larger 6.5-inch display with curved edges for an extra premium touch. Complementing the classy aesthetics is the 90Hz refresh rate output and 180Hz touch sampling rate for a snappier experience. You also get a single 32MP selfie lens.

Over on the back, you get an anti-glare matte finish that comes in Silky White and Starry Night – you get a familiar camera module, albeit all four lenses are arranged vertically. The lenses used are exactly the same.

In terms of specs, you get the exact same hardware except it comes with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. The battery is smaller at 4,000mAh but it supports a whopping 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging.

Price

The OPPO Reno4 is priced at RM1,699, while the Reno4 Pro will set you back RM2,399 – official sales will start this August 8.
