The things companies will do for the sake of more screen real estate and “innovation” – OPPO’s upcoming Reno phone will come with a pop-up camera, but get this, the module will be shaped like a stick of chewing gum and will be erected at an angle.

Renders of the phone have surfaced on Weibo depicting the Reno with its awkwardly slanted front facing camera – at the tip of the module is a lens and what seems to be a studio light.

Don’t get us wrong, we’re all for unique designs, but this seems a tad unnecessary and over engineered. But if it works, then more power to OPPO.

Previous reports suggest that the Reno will come with a Snapdragon 855 chipset, a 6.65-inch display, a triple-camera setup with a 48MP main lens. So, aside from the gimmicky front camera, the OPPO Reno is shaping up to be a proper flagship device, which despite our gripes, we are still excited for.
