OPPO launches Reno7 Series 5G in Malaysia, starts from RM1,999

OPPO has just unveiled the Reno7 and Reno7 Pro 5G in Malaysia today, these phones sport a brand new bold design and improved portrait photo and video taking capabilities.

The Reno7 Pro 5G is powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 1200 Max 5G SoC supported by 12GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage, it has a 6.55-inch AMOLED display  that refreshes at 90Hz and is certified for Netflix HD and Amazon Prime HD, however what OPPO really wants you to care about this phone is that the new 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera sensor that the company calls it a ‘Flagship Portrait Camera System’, while the camera is a 32MP Sony IMX709 sensor that captures RGBW color space and is co-developed between Sony and OPPO.

Our early hands on with the Reno7 Pro 5G’s cameras have been rather pleasant, the Sony IMX766 is clearly one of the best camera sensors in the market right now that excels in low light photography, and with the help of OPPO’s AI image tuning, its portrait photo and video quality is pretty promising and easily one of the best Android phones that does that. On top of that, the company also continues to promote features such as its Bokeh Flare Portrait Video and AI Highlight Video that’s improved from its predecessor, which are features that promise DSLR-like bokeh when taking videos and better image adjustment with scene recognition respectively.

Among the two, the Reno7 Pro 5G stands out with an Orbit Breathing Light on its camera bump, it glows when the phone charges or receives notifications, while it comes in color options of Startrails Blue and Starlight Black.

On the other hand, the Reno7 5G steps down with a Mediatek Dimensity 900 5G chipset supported by 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage, screen size is smaller at 6.4-inches but it is still a respectable AMOLED display that refreshes at 90Hz and is also Netflix HD and Amazon Prime HD certified, however it only has a single mono loudspeaker unlike the Pro which has a dual stereo speaker setup, camera wise you get a regular 64MP f/1.7 main camera sensor that’s supported by the same 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro sensor on the Pro.

The Reno7 5G series come with a 4500mAh battery and supports 65W SuperVOOC flash charging, which OPPO claims can be fully charged from 0-100% in a mere 31 minutes.
