After four years of research and development along with six generations of prototypes, OPPO has officially its first foldable smartphone — . Right of the bat, the company’s long-awaited foldable phone already offers an almost non-visible crease display, a total of five cameras, and guarantees increased efficiency.
Display
The OPPO Find N isn’t overwhelmingly big, if anything, the size is just right — the outer display is only 5.49-inches with an aspect ratio of 18:9 when folded whereas the inner display is 7.1-inches with an aspect ratio of 8.4:9 when unfolded. Both displays are AMOLED panels with the outer display supporting 60Hz while the inner display has an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
Design
During the launch session, it was explained why the phone took so long to perfect and it was because OPPO really wanted to eliminate the creasing issues seen in foldable phones. Although the crease can’t be completely eliminated, the company found a way to make the crease barely visible by creating the Flexion Hinge. This hinge is made out of a whopping 136 components and creates a waterdrop-shape at the fold, making the crease 80% less noticeable.
Specs
Under the hood, this foldable phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chip — similar to the Galaxy Z Fold3, paired with either 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage or 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The phone UI has also been optimised so that you can achieve ultimate efficiency with its Split Screen mode; to enable Split Screen mode, you simply have to swipe down the center of the screen with two fingers compared to the conventional 5 step process.
Camera
In terms of imaging, the phone sports a triple camera setup which consists of a 50MP main camera, a 16MP ultrawide camera, and a 13MP telephoto camera. There is also a 32MP selfie camera on both the outer and inner display.
Battery
The smartphone packs a 4,500mAh battery with support for 33W SuperVOOC wired charging and 15W AirVOOC wireless charging; along with 10W reverse wireless charging.
