OPPO Ace 2 could be another 5G flagship coming soon with a Snapdragon 865

The OPPO Ace 2 – yes, without the ‘Reno’ branding; the smartphone market is saturated at this point that slight tweaks in device names like that can really throw us off. In any case, this is most likely a follow-up to the Reno Ace – only perhaps OPPO may be looking to make ‘Ace’ its own thing.

A promotional teaser ad has surface online via OPPO’s Weibo page, showing off many of the smartphone’s features.

A radar chart can be seen in the video telling us a few things about its display – the OPPO Ace 2 looks set to have a 90Hz display with a touch sampling rate of 180Hz. On top of that, you’ll get 96.3% screen-to-body ratio with DCI-P3 colour space, for better colour accuracy.

It also has a blue light curve of 460nm which OPPO claims will reduce eye strain upon extended screen times.

From the video, we also see the back design of the phone – there’ll be a very conspicuous circular camera module that’ll house four camera lenses. According to GSMArena, the lenses will be a 48MP main shooter alongside one 8MP lens and a pair of 2MP lenses.

The phone itself is said to measure at 6.5-inches and will come with a Snapdragon 865 chipset with 5G connectivity. On top of that, a 4,000mAh battery will likely power the device – and being an OPPO, you can expect the Ace 2 to support up to 62W of SuperVOOC fast charging.

As usual, we’ll see the device debut in its native China first, so we’ll keep you updated on the local pricing and availability as it comes.
