Opensignal ranks Celcom as best 4G coverage provider, Digi offers best download speeds

Opensignal’s network report for this month shows that honors are shared quite evenly by all major telcos in the country. Celcom emerges victor in 4G coverage experience, while Digi is top dog in the download speed category.

In an overview chart of the awards given to each telco by Opensignal, we see both Maxis and U Mobile winning out in two categories each – the former in the video and gaming experience arena, while the latter takes the honors for best voice app and upload speed experience.

Unifi is in with a shout for offering the best 4G availability – Opensignal clarifies that this result comes as a result of the proportion of time that users on the Unifi network spend connected on 4G (92.2%). The lowest in this category is Digi, with only 83.8% of the time spent on 4G.

In terms of actual 4G coverage, Celcom wins out by some margin – Digi and Maxis come in second and third respectively but with very close scores; Unifi ranks lowest despite taking top spot in the 4G availability category.

If you perform a lot of uploads, you might want to set your sights on switching over to U Mobile if you’re not already on their network – the report finds that the brand performs the best with a 7.1 Mbps average upload speed; Unifi ranks the lowest again with a speed of 2.4 Mbps.
