OpenKirin allows you to flash stock Android on selected Huawei and Honor phones

For those of you that love Huawei and Honor phones but prefer to stick with a stock Android interface will be happy to know that the OpenKirin project is for you.

The project will offer you a pure stock Android experience, which means that you will lose all the functions that EMUI brings, and be left with just the functions and features that come with stock Android. However, the project only works with selected phones that run on EMUI 8.

Phones supported by OpenKirin

Phones like the Mate 10 Pro and Honor View10 is supported by this projects. Lower-end phones like the Honor 6X and Huawei P10 Lite is also supported. Many phones that are running EMUI 8 is supported by Project Treble, the project that lets developers easily update their phones with the latest Android version. This also allows users to opt for a stock version of Android if they are not satisfied with the UI skin on their phones. Because of this, the team at OpenKirin did not have much problem bringing this project to life.

There is a slightly tedious process of unlocking your phone’s bootloader, but you have to do it fast as Huawei is shutting down this service by July 22. To find out more, visit the OpenKirin website.
