OnePlus teams up with O2 for traditional sale of the OnePlus 3

Since the launch of the OnePlus One, OnePlus has been pushing out their handsets through online channels. For instance, the dreaded and controversial yet exclusive invite system which lingered on till the OnePlus 2 and ended with this year’s OnePlus 3. That move is somewhat reasonable due to the Chinese startup’s limited resources to manufacture large amounts of their handsets. Fast forward till today, the invite system is officially dead, and OnePlus has announced that it will partner UK carrier O2 to push out their current flagship handset.

This will be one of the few times OnePlus will go physical sale with their products rather than online. In Malaysia, the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 were offered locally with major carrier Maxis, with or without a binding contract. OnePlus will be pulling off something similar with O2 in the UK very soon. And by very soon, I mean September 29, about a day from now. The OnePlus 3 will be available on O2’s online store and retail stores, offered alongside O2’s Refresh tariffs. The plans start at £28 monthly, with no upfront payment required.

Looks like the UK folks out there would be able to test out the OnePlus 3 physically in O2 retail stores very soon. Is this move a sign of OnePlus’ maturity in marketing their products? Let us know your thoughts at the comments section below!
