OnePlus launches the OnePlus 6T from $549

OnePlus finally revealed their latest flagship smartphone at the launch event in New York, the OnePlus 6T. Though it is a day earlier than its initial date, to ensure that the One Plus 6T gets the coverage that it needs, OnePlus decided to move their biggest launch event in US up a day to avoid clashing with Apple’s launch event on 30 October.

OnePlus is partnering with T-Mobile to launch the OnePlus 6T in over 5600 stores to allow US users to experience the flagship smartphone before they decide to purchase, which is a first for the company as it has only been available online in US previously.

The OnePlus 6T comes with a 6.41-inch AMOLED Full HD+ display with an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is one of the newest technology to be found in smartphones these days. OnePlus claims that the screen unlock technology in the smartphone requires only 0.34s, which is the fastest screen unlock so far. The smartphone also comes with a smaller notch and a smaller chin, but OnePlus promises that it does not compromise the antenna’s capabilities in the smartphone.

The OnePlus 6T also has a dual camera with 20MP sensor and 16MP sensor that have OIS and EIS. The smartphone now has a mode called Nightscape which involves a better HDR algorithm and faster night mode capture which results in better low light images and this will also be available on those who are using the OnePlus 6. Furthermore, the 6T also comes with Studio Lighting that detects human face to accentuate the facial features in terms of lighting.

The OnePlus smartphones have always been on the Snapdragon 800 series, which is why it is not surprising that the 6T is powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor, which has 30% faster graphics compared to its predecessor and has Gigabit LTE for Lightning-fast connectivity. The 6T comes with either 6/8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage and for gamers, there is also a feature called Smart Boost which uses RAM as storage due to its faster processing time to provide better gaming experience. OnePlus also uses their software OxygenOS to enhance the user experience with features on the 6T such as Full Screen Gestures 2.0, which is similar to the way the new iPhones switch between apps and close apps, in addition to more targeted optimisations and faster screen response time. The smartphone is equipped with a 3700mAh battery that supports fast charging, and it comes in two versions of black known as Mirror Black and Midnight Black.

Apart from all that, OnePlus is also offering accessories such as the OnePlus Bullet Type-C that costs $ 19.95, the Bullets Wireless earphones Fifth Anniversary edition that costs $69 and the OnePlus Explorer Backpack with one-handed locking mechanism and is water resistant and tear resistant. The backpack will cost $99, but those who attended the launch event will get it free of charge.

Last but not least, the OnePlus 6T will cost you $549 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, $579 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant and $629 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant.
