The OnePlus 5 features speedy UFS 2.1 storage

Both Huawei and Samsung have gotten flak for allegedly falsely advertising their flagships’ storage technologies. The Huawei P10 and the Galaxy S8 were advertised with UFS 2.1 storage respectively, but not all units were made with UFS 2.1. The OnePlus 5 on the other hand sports the speedy storage technology as well, and it happens to be the case so far.

The OnePlus 5 has finally launched late last night. The highly anticipated and possibly heavily criticized flagship by the Chinese manufacturer made its eventual appearance live at 12am local time. The OnePlus 5 has a very premium spec sheet with high end specs, which includes a Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. Speaking of which, is of UFS 2.1 technology, which is the benchmark for most modern high end smartphones.

Since the controversial advertising by both Samsung and Huawei, smartphone makers have been pretty cautious about promoting their smartphones’ storage technologies, but OnePlus didn’t shy away from boasting its UFS 2.1 storage. We can’t be certain whether it will be consistent for all OnePlus 5 units, but fortunately, initial reviews for the handset are positive when it comes to storage.

UFS 2.1 storage speed typically surpass the 700MB/s mark. How important is storage speed to you as a smartphone user?
