OnePlus 5 confirmed to pack Snapdragon 835 processor

The OnePlus 5 has been talked about and speculated countless times as the momentum of rumors and leaks picked up over the past couple of months. We’ve learned about the upcoming flagship by OnePlus inside out, and we can finally confirm one of the many stated rumors.

On OnePlus Forums, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has revealed that the OnePlus 5 will be featuring the high end Snapdragon 835 processor, the same chip seen in the Samsung Galaxy S8, Sony Xperia XZ Premium and the Xiaomi Mi 6. Lau believes that the need for the SD 835 is essential for buttery smooth performance on the phone, citing the loading speed of graphic demanding games.

Lau also claims that the Chinese manufacturer has been focused on improving touch latency and the smoothness of software, which is where Oxygen OS comes in. OnePlus’ own software has been known for its clean, near stock Android look while providing customization options for users. A new feature has been added to better manage the performance of apps on the phone.

The OnePlus 5 is due to be unveiled pretty soon as the OnePlus 3T will be taken off the shelves, according to OnePlus. The company states that the OnePlus 3T will go out of stock for good and that this is your last chance to get the flagship from late last year. Will you be getting one yourself? Or will you be waiting for the OnePlus 5?
