OnePlus 5 black and white camera sample released, will feature UFS storage

Most of you here are definitely no stranger to the OnePlus 5 anymore, given the amount of teasers published before and after the announcement of the flagship’s launch date. We’re only a week away from the flagship’s June 20 launch date, and OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has posted up another camera sample for our thirsty souls.

Lau uploaded a camera sample of the OnePlus 5 onto his Weibo account, in black and white form. The black and white portrait photo is probably to show off the phone’s monochrome sensor from the dual camera setup.  It could also be the camera software’s monochrome mode given that the image has a blurred background, but it is safe to say that the former is more likely to be the case. Regardless, the image came out sharp and full of detail, with an ideal amount of contrast.

In related news, Lau has also revealed that the OnePlus 5 will feature UFS storage instead of eMMC. It wasn’t specified whether or not the phone will have UFS 2.0 or 2.1 technology, but information like this seems to be of a key importance given Samsung and Huawei’s controversies surrounding the Galaxy S8 and Huawei P10’s storage technologies respectively.

So far, it has been confirmed that the OnePlus 5 will feature a Snapdragon 835 processor and has a dual rear camera setup. A recent teaser image also suggests that it has a smaller footprint than the OnePlus 3/3T while retaining the same screen size.
