OnePlus 3 and 3T will be directly updated to Android P, skipping the Android 8.1 update

OnePlus has been known to support their devices for a really long time, even to the point of bringing in features from newer phones to their older phones. Perhaps companies can take note of how OnePlus takes care of their devices and customers, however, OnePlus 3 and 3T users will not be getting an Android 8.1 update.

Instead, OnePlus will be taking the 3 and 3T directly to Android P, skipping the Android 8.1 update altogether. The OnePlus 6, 5 and 5T will also receive the same treatment which is again very refreshing to see a smartphone company do in today’s day and age. Sadly, OnePlus 3 and 3T users will have to wait a while longer before you will be seeing Android P on your phones as they are sure to update the 6 followed by the 5 and 5T and eventually coming to the 3 and 3T. By estimation, users of the older OnePlus phones might only see the Android P update early next year.

Android P will probably be the last major update we will be seeing for the 3 and 3T, but for a phone that was released in 2016 and still getting major updates all the way to 2019 is seriously impressive and we hope the company keeps this practice up for future phones.
