Android O is set to gently seep into Android devices later this year. Of course, Google’s series of Android toys will get the first taste of the new version of the software, as other manufacturers gear up to bring Android O to their devices respectively. OnePlus seems to be the first out of the sea of smartphone makers, announcing that its phones will be receiving Android O.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has took the liberty to make an announcement on Twitter, stating that both the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T will be receiving Android O software in the future. The announcement was made after Google unveiled more info regarding its upcoming Android software at I/O 2017 just recently. Android O’s name has yet to be revealed, but many speculate it to be dubbed “Android Oreo”.
Both the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T were released last year, sporting Snapdragon 820 and Snapdragon 821 processors respectively. Hence it is no surprise that users of both these handsets will be able taste Android O when the time comes.
Meanwhile, the older OnePlus 2 smartphone has been left out in the cold for an impending Nougat update. The last known software update was still of Marshmallow back in late March this year.
