NVIDIA’s Max-Q design will put a GTX 1080 in a 18 MM thin laptop

NVIDIA introduced Max-Q, a new design approach for gaming laptops making them thinner, quieter and faster. Max-Q plays a big part in NASA’s mission to launch man into space where the aerodynamic stress on a rocket in atmospheric flight is maximized, thus the rocket is designed around Max-Q, which NVIDIA has applied to gaming laptops, making it 3X thinner and 3X more performance over previous generation products.

Max-Q will give graphics cards a new way of operating, keeping the GPU at peak efficiency with optimizations such as low voltage optimized clock curve that brings out gaming performance while reducing power. In addition, the Game Ready drivers have been tuned to deliver optimal system efficiency while delivering a great gaming experience. The Max-Q designed laptops are made with sophisticated thermal and electrical design and with the new advancement in thermal solutions, along with regulator efficiency, it will enable higher performance and quieter operations in a thin gaming laptop.

Max-Q designed laptops will also support a wide range of NVIDIA GeForce gaming technologies, Game Ready drivers, NVIDIA G-SYNC display technology, VR, 4K gaming and more. NVIDIA also introduced NVIDIA WhisperMode which makes laptops run quieter while gaming, the game’s frame rate is paced while simultaneously configuring the graphics settings for optimal power efficiency, reducing the acoustic level for gaming laptops.

Max-Q designed laptops equipped with GeForce GTX 1080, 1070 and 1060 will be available starting on June 27 from leading laptop OEMs and system builders. Pricing and availability may vary throughout these OEMs and builders.
