Nvidia releases GeForce Experience 3.0; requires an account to use it

Nvidia graphics card owners take note, Nvidia has just released GeForce Experience 3.0 to the public. This version of Nvidia’s graphics card companion comes with some major design overhauls, but it comes with a big caveat.

Before we get into the caveat, let’s go through the changes that has been made to GeForce Experience 3.0. For starters, navigating the app is much easier now, and the game optimization windows now features boxart of the games themselves instead of a list. The Drivers tab has also been overhauled, providing detailed information about each driver update. Nvidia will also be doing giveaways for those who utilise GeForce Experience, with this month’s giveaways being MSI VR-Ready laptops and HTC Vives.

So what is the caveat you ask? Well, if you want to use GeForce Experience 3.0, you’re going to have to register for an account. Prior to 3.0, signing up for GeForce Experience has always been optional. Not this time though. If you want GeForce Experience and all of its perks, you’re going to have to get an account. Just so we’re clear here, GeForce Experience isn’t mandatory, but you won’t be able to participate in the giveaways that Nvidia will be hosting on the app. You’ll also be forced to download the latest graphics drivers manually, and features such as ShadowPlay, which is tied to the GeForce Experience, will not be available to those who refuse to sign up for an account.
