Nubia Play 5G is the new midrange 5G device with a 144Hz display

Nubia recently unveiled a 5G gaming phone called the Nubia Play 5G. Just like the Red Magic 5G that was launched last month, the new Nubia phone will support a 144Hz refresh rate on its AMOLED display.

The Nubia Play 5G is bringing a 6.65-inch display and a 48MP quad-camera setup. Apart from its main shooter, it’ll also have an 8MP ultrawide lens and two 2MP sensors. Under the hood, the device will come with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, in addition to sporting a Snapdragon 765G chipset and a 5,100mAh battery.

The launch of this phone can mean trouble to the upcoming Pixel 5 — after all, the Pixel 5 is reported to sport the same Snapdragon 765G chipset instead of the premium 5G processor to cut cost. With the Nubia Play 5G priced at ¥2,399, this could cause consumers to think twice before purchasing the Google Pixel 5.

In addition to that, Apple also recently launched the iPhone SE that comes with the A13 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 11. There’s a slim chance that the Pixel 5 will be priced similarly or cheaper than the iPhone SE, but even if we take that into account, the iPhone SE is still more powerful than the Pixel 5.

On the other hand, we should expect the Pixel 5 to excel in several aspects such as its software updates and photography quality.
