Popular custom Android launcher Nova Launcher turns 5 today, and it is no surprise that the launcher has a new version on the rollout in conjunction with its 5th birthday. Version 5.0 to be exact, to mark 5 years since Nova’s humble beginnings back in 2011.
The latest update might take a couple of hours to show up at your Google Play Store, hence Cliff Wade, one of the main developers for Nova Launcher has taken the liberty to list out the things we can expect with Nova Launcher 5.0. The rollout comes with a new swipe to open app drawer feature, like seen on the Pixel launcher on Google’s Pixel handsets. Another Pixel inspired add-on is the Pixel style search bar.
Nova Launcher 5.0 also includes a new search view, with tabs for Frequent, Recent and New/Updated apps. The rest of the newly added features include new double tap to swipe gestures, dock backgrounds to draw under navigation bar, quick start to easily change major settings, a brand new “Timeout” screen lock system, plus shortcuts from the Android 7.1 launcher.
Beta users are lucky enough to have experienced some of the aforementioned features first hadn before anyone else. Once again, do bear in mind that the new version might not appear on your Play Store this instant. The APK download and the full list of updates can be found in Cliff Wade’s Google Plus post at the source link below. Are you a Nova Launcher user?
