Nothing announces CMF Phone 1 and companion wearables

After 7 days of teasers, Nothing has finally unveiled the first phone for its sub-brand CMF, and as the company promised, it delivered many compelling features that many smartphones of the same category neglected.

The CMF Phone 1 features a unique removable plastic back case that’s held on by screws, you even get color matching SIM trays depending on the color you pick, it is also available in a vegan leather back case that’s in the brand’s signature orange color. The bottom left wheel unfortunately isn’t software functional, but still serves as a rather useful accessory attachment, which Nothing sells a lanyard, a magnetic wallet case, and kickstand to pair with it.

Specs wise, you may have already seen it through the teasers over the past week, the phone is powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 7300 chip paired to 8GB RAM with 128GB or 256GB of storage, it supports MicroSD expansion up to 2TB and like other mid-range competitors, it has a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED display that boasts 2000 nits peak brightness, a large 5000mAh battery that supports 33W wired fast charging, while its camera system is a rather modest 50MP main + 2MP depth camera setup and a 16MP camera manage selfies.

Nothing is promising up to 2 years of Android OS updates and 3 years of security updates for the CMF Phone 1, it will be available in Malaysia starting 15 July onwards for RM1,099 for the 8GB + 256GB storage variant, you can purchase from Nothing CMF’s official store on Lazada and Shopee, authorised retailers and Yes 5G, customers will receive a free CMF case worth RM99 while stocks lasts.

Meanwhile, Nothing has also announced companion wearables to pair with the CMF Phone 1, including the CMF Watch Pro 2 that sports a 1.32″ AMOLED display, support for over 100 sports modes and supporting Bluetooth calling; the CMF Buds Pro 2 that features improved sound over the previous model with a dual-driver design, consisting of a 11mm bass driver and 6mm tweeter that expands its frequency range to 5000Hz.

The CMF Watch Pro 2 and CMF Buds Pro 2 retails for RM339 and RM299 respectively, they will be available for purchase the same day as the CMF Phone 1.
