For those of you waiting in line for a Redmi Note 5 appearance, prepared for a disappointment as the phone has already been unveiled by Xiaomi. It is in fact, the Redmi 5 Plus. As opposed to rumors, there won’t be a Redmi Note 5 as Xiaomi has made a decision to do away with the Note branding on its smartphones. This is new information as sourced from a comprehensive review of the Redmi 5 Plus by a MIUI forums moderator.
“The wait is finally over, Xiaomi has finally decided to release the Redmi Note 5, wait!!! I heard its called the Redmi 5 Plus? No kidding?? There was a name change? Well yes folks, the 2 new Redmi Note sized phones are named Redmi 5 for the 5.7″ and Redmi 5 Plus for the 5.99….. as of the moment, Xiaomi has decided to drop the Note name on their 5.7″ sized budget phones.”
It appears that Xiaomi has silently launched the Redmi Note 5 with the new “Plus” moniker. The Redmi 5 Plus is still an impressive phone in its stride – a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display in 18:9 aspect ratio, a Snapdragon 625 processor, 3/4GB of RAM with 32/64GB storage, 12MP rear camera, 5MP selfie camera and a 4,000mAh battery. The processor however is a disappoint as it is the same one that powers the Redmi Note 4. What are your thoughts on this sudden news by Xiaomi?
