Apple received a huge backlash when a user reported that they were throttling older iPhones in order to keep the phone powered up when the battery loses its charge over time. That made a lot of people unhappy with the lack of transparency that Apple provided to its users. However, Apple CEO, Tim Cook has recently announced that there will be an update to the iOS that will allow users to turn off the performance throttling.
Apple had good intentions when they released an update that will slow down iPhone with weak batteries, but the lack of information or explanation was the major reason why users are calling foul at Apple. They were nice enough to offer battery replacement for affected devices at a very low cost. In a future iOS update, Apple will provide more in-depth information on the phone’s battery as well as performance throttling to which users can turn it off if they find that it is not significantly affecting their battery life.
