Next Huawei flagship to be named the P20 instead of P11

2017 has been a busy but good year for Chinese manufacturing giant Huawei. The company launched a whole range of smartphones throughout the year, having unveiled a couple of handsets in this month itself. A news outlet in Israel has reported that the upcoming Huawei P11 flagship will be named the P20 instead, supporting a handful of earlier rumors.

A P20 moniker is somewhat nicer sounding and a more “perfect” number as compared to the P11. The CEO of Huawei’s Israeli distributor broke the news at the Huawei Mate 10 launch event in a country, revealing the company’s road map for its upcoming devices as well. Recently, numerous sources have claimed that Huawei trademarked the P20 name, and this latest disclosure bolsters up those claims.

The Huawei Mate 10 has proven to be one of the best of 2017, being an excellent all rounder. The Huawei P20 will be expected to be up to the Mate 10’s standards, if not a better handset. The P20 will likely be powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 970 high performing processor with AI capabilities, along with Leica branded shooters both on the front and back of the device. The phone is expected to make an appearance at MWC 2018 in February.
