New Fossil Q smartwatches ditch flat tire display

Fossil is one of the first designer brands to adopt Android Wear for its smartwatches. The company released its first generation smartwatch running on Android Wear – the Fossil Q Founder. The Q Founder sported the features that came with Android Wear, plus the premium Fossil timepiece look. The Q Wander and Q Marshal followed suit, but all three wearables feature the infamous flat tire display design. That is about to change with Fossil’s new offerings.

The upcoming Fossil Q Venture and Q Explorist are the latest in Fossil’s smart wearable lineup. The main difference that separates them from predecessors are the new circular display without the flat tire, which has been criticised for quite some time. In terms of general design, the Fossil Q Explorist has a larger 45mm diameter compared to the 42mm diameter of the Q Venture. Both smartwatches sport 12.6mm and 11.5mm cases respectively. The internals are of the same, powered by a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor exclusive to smartwatches and run on Android Wear 2.0.

The Fossil Q Explorist and Fossil Q Venture will both be available for sale this fall, starting at a price of $255. Both are definitely affordable for brand new Android Wear smartwatches.
