Just like skype’s real-time translation feature, Microsoft has implemented a translation feature into Powerpoint. Although it will not translate your slides into another language, the add-in will translate your voice in real-time using an iOS, Android or Windows app, the feature will also generate a link that your viewers and use to choose the language they want.
During Microsoft’s Build Conference, the company showed how it can translate Spanish sentence to English which turned out pretty well on its first try, where else it did take a few more tries for it to understand the Chinese language. While it is still in the early stages, this is an interesting demo of the translation capabilities of its Cognitive Services tools, which developers can use to make videos easily searchable or index images. As Microsoft is moving towards AI it is good that they are showing us how features like this can be integrated into an average consumer’s life.
Currently, Powerpoint Translator supports 9 spoken and more than 60 written languages, a preview of the add-in will be provided at their Garage site here on an invitation basis.
