Apart from the Moto G5 and G5 Plus, Lenovo has even more in store for us in this year’s Mobile World Congress at Barcelona. It’s day 1 of MWC 2017 and the company has unveiled a series of four tablets built for everyone in the family, and it is probably no coincidence that the series of tablets are known as the Tab 4 Series, coming in two variants with two sizes each.
Starting off with the Lenovo Tab 4 8 and Tab 4 10, their names speak for their respective display sizes at 8-inches and 10-inches, with a resolution of 1,280×800. The rest of the specs are the same throughout with the exception of their batteries – a Snapdragon 425 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with micro SD expansion, 5MP rear camera and 2MP front facing camera. The Tab 4 8 packs a 4,850mAh battery while the larger Tab 4 10 packs a 7,000mAh battery. Lenovo promises up to 12 hours of battery life with the Tab 4. The manufacturer highlights the tablet’s Dolby moving audio technology via its front facing dual stereo speakers for an immersive media consumption experience.
If you’re looking to do more than just consuming media, you can up the ante by opting for the Tab 4 Plus variants, which also come in two sizes – Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus and Tab 4 10 Plus. The Plus models feature a more premium and attractive design profile, offering more horsepower underneath the hood as well. The Tab 4 Plus sports dual glass panels on the front and rear, making it slimmer than the Tab 4. The display on the front is in sharper Full HD resolution The tablet is powered by a more powerful Snapdragon 625 processor, 3 or 4GB of RAM with up to 64GB of internal storage (beginning at 16GB) with micro SD expansion as well. The camera department sees a bump up to 8MP on the rear and 5MP on the front. Battery sizes are the same as the non Plus models but the Tab 4 Plus comes with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 support.
The “made for everyone in the family” part comes into play as these tablets are offered with optional accessories – a Kid’s Pack and a Productivity Pack. The Kid’s Pack is specific to the non Plus Tab 4’s, with a bumper case, bluelight filter and colorful 3M stickers to spice up the design. In terms of software, there will be a dedicated Kid’s Account for curated kid friendly content, plus parental controls.
The Productivity Pack on the other hand is made for both the non Plus and Plus models of the Tab 4. It consists of a Bluetooth keyboard that also works as a sleeve and a stand for the tablet. It also goes well with the tablet’s handy features such as the taskbar, instant app switching and multi-window support.
The Lenovo Tab 4 8 and Tab 4 10 come with price tags of 169 Euros (RM795.90) and 179 Euros (RM843.00) respectively. Lenovo has only listed out the price tags for the 4GB RAM/32GB model for the Tab 4 8 Plus and Tab 4 10 Plus at 259 Euros (RM1,219.75) and 299 Euros (RM1,408.13) respectively. The Lenovo Tab 4 Series will be available globally beginning in May.
