Motorola Frontier leak: Another flagship in the works

After being the first manufacturer to bring the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 to the market with Moto Edge X30, Motorola is already working on a new flagship phone, according to Technik News. This new phone is currently assigned the codename “Frontier”.

The “next-generation” Frontier is said to have mouthwatering specs, including a 200MP main camera and powered by a Qualcomm “Snapdragon SM8745” chipset. It’s unclear whether the SM8745 will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, but as Android Authority has observed, Qualcomm normally uses an SM8X50 naming convention for its full-year refreshes (e.g. SM8350 for Snapdragon 888 and SM8250 for Snapdragon 865). By this logic, it’s highly likely that the Frontier will be equipped with the latest variant, but that remains to be seen.

There is also reported to be 8GB/12GB options for RAM and 128GB/256GB for memory.

Meanwhile, the display is said to be a 6.67 inch curved FHD + OLED panel, with a refresh rate of 144Hz.

Imagery-wise, the Frontier is reported to have a Samsung sensor providing a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a  12MP telephoto camera from Sony. Not to be overlooked, the front camera will have a resolution of 60MP and will utilize the new “Always On” feature from Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

We don’t know about the battery capacity yet, but Motorola seems to have stepped up its game in the charging department, with speeds of up to 125W via a USB-C cable or 50W via wireless charging, if the report is accurate. In comparison, the Edge X30’s charging speed is 68W.

It is of course, highly unlikely that any official announcements or launch date will be released soon, so we’ll just have to stay tuned for more news.
