Motorola Edge X30 launched in China: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 & under-display camera

Motorola held a launch event in China for the Motorola Edge X30 — the first smartphone to feature the new SoC; And that’s not all, the company also unveiled the Motorola Edge S30, an upper-midranger.

This phone packs a 6.8-inch FHD+ OLED panel that pushes a 144Hz refresh rate with support for HDR 10+ and 10-bit colour. Other than that, it sports a 60MP punch-hole camera. Under the hood, you have the previously mentioned Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 paired with 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage.

For imaging, the Edge X30 comes with a 50MP main lens, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. Powering the phone is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 68W fast charging.

Motorola Edge X30 Special Edition

If you’re not a fan of the Edge X30’s punch-hole camera design, you can opt for its special edition. The specs are essentially the same and the only difference is that instead of a punch-hole camera, you’re getting an under-display one.

Motorola Edge S30

As an upper-midranger, this phone features a Snapdragon 888+ paired with 6/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage. It sports a 6.8-inch FHD+ LCD panel with a refresh rate ranging from 48Hz to 144Hz.

When it comes to cameras, you get a 108MP main lens along with a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. For the selfies, you get a 16MP punch-hole camera. The phone runs on a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

Motorola Edge X30:

  • 8GB+128GB: CNY3,199 (about RM2120)
  • 8GB+256GB: CNY3,399 (about RM2253)
  • 12GB+256GB: CNY3,599 (about RM2385)

Motorola Edge X30 Special Edition:

  • 12GB+256GB: CNY3,999 (about RM2651)

Motorola Edge S30:

  • 6GB+128GB: CNY1,999 (about RM1325)
  • 12GB+256GB: CNY2,599 (about RM1723)

The Motorola Edge X30 and its special edition can be purchased from December 15 whereas the Motorola Edge S30 sales will start a bit later from December 21. There’s no information whether these phones will be available in Malaysia in the future but we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
