Motorola’s ambitions with its modular concept, Moto Mods, isn’t exactly taking off in a way the company wants it to. Apart from the initial batch of Moto Mods that were announced when Motorola first revealed the Moto Z, there has been a dearth of new Moto Mods that have been announced. In order to fix that, Motorola is resorting to the public to help them come up with new ideas for Moto Mods.
Working in partnership with Indiegogo and Verizon, Motorola will be introducing a Moto Mod Indiegogo campaign. Starting from today until the 31st of January, both parties will be holding the Moto Mods Developer contest where developers are able to submit ideas for new Moto Mods. Once a developer has a prototype of their own Moto Mod, said developer can then start their own crowdfunding page on Indiegogo to gauge interest in their own Moto Mod.
One the crowdfunding campaign is done and dusted, Motorola and Verizon will chooose ten finalists. These finalists will be flown to Motorola’s Chicago headquarters to pitch their ideas. The winning finalists will be able to land an investment of USD1 million to bring the prototype Moto Mod into a full-fledged working product. Motorola would then promote and distribute the Moto Mods online.
Most importantly, the contest is open to everyone around the world. So long as you’re of legal age, you can participate in this contest. If you think you have an idea that could work great as a Moto Mod, you should give this contest a shot.
