Moto G4 and G4 Plus goes official in India with improved displays

Sometimes, smartphone leaks really do spoil the fun and surprise when it comes to the official unveiling of a handset. We’re hoping that the many leaks that we shared relating to the Moto G4 and G4 Plus won’t ruin your surprise since both handsets are finally revealed by Lenovo in India. So let’s dive in.

Let’s begin with the Moto G4. On the display side we’re looking at a 5.5-inch screen at 1080p resolution with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Underneath the hood is a Snapdragon 617 processor, 2GB of RAM coupled with 16GB of expandable storage up to 128GB via the micro SD card slot. Camera-wise, a 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture plus a 5MP selfie shooter on the front with an aperture of f/2.2. The Moto G4 packs a 3,000mAh battery, with a Turbo Charger that can give six hours of power in a mere 15 minutes. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a fingerprint sensor unlike the more premium G4 Plus. The Moto G4 will be running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.

Moving on to the Moto G4 Plus, it sports the same screen as the G4. In terms of processing power, we’re looking at the same SoC as well, but with an option of either 2GB or 3GB of RAM plus 16GB and 32GB of expandable storage respectively. In the camera department, we’re looking at a decently good upgrade from the standard Moto G4. A 16MP camera with an OmniVision sensor, equipped with PDAF and Laser AutoFocus. The front facing camera remains the same at 5MP. Like the Moto G4, the G4 Plus also packs a 3,000mAh battery. The handset also packs a fingerprint sensor on the front, which the G4 lacks. According to Lenovo, the device can be unlocked in 750 milliseconds via fingerprint.

The Moto G4’s price hasn’t been unveiled yet but the G4 Plus will cost 13,499 rupees for the lower end variant and 14,999 rupees for an additional gig of RAM and double the internal storage. Both handsets will be sold exclusively by Amazon India. The Moto G4 and G4 Plus will also be available in the UK starting mid-June for £169 and £199 respectively. What do you think of the Lenovo Moto G4?
