There might not be a OnePlus 6T in 2018

OnePlus has carried on its trend of “T” successor phones as second flagships. Last year saw the OnePlus 3T succeed the OnePlus 3 and just recently, the OnePlus 5T to the OnePlus 5. But according to an AMA session about the OnePlus 5T on the company’s community forums, OnePlus still happens to be indecisive for a “T” smartphone next year.

Although OnePlus is smart to adopt 2017 flagship-like features on the OnePlus 5T, the OnePlus 5 is becoming more obsolete as a result, looking more like a phone from 2016 instead. The 5T of course, came with other improvements as well, which somewhat disregard the regular OP5.

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei stated that a “T” follow up will only be made when necessary – “We’ll make a second T device if there’s enough new technology that’s useful to our users. As of now, we still haven’t decided whether we have enough upgrades next year for a T device.” The OnePlus 5 might have ticked most boxes, but it has definitely missed out on a full screen display. That has been addressed with the OnePlus 5T. Last year’s upgrade from the OP3 to the OP3T however did not seem as necessary as it is this year.

Will there be a OnePlus 6T? That still remains a mystery. Let’s see what 2018 has in store for us.
