Microsoft is ending support for Windows 7.5 and 8.0 phones

If you own a Windows 7.5 or 8.0 phone, then it looks like its time for you to get a new phone because as of February 20, Microsoft will be ending support for push notification for the mentioned Windows phones. Once the company halts push notifications, live tiles and the Find My Phone feature will not work.

For those of you using newer Windows phones will not have to worry as it only affects the older phones. Microsoft released a statement which says both Windows 7.5 and 8.0 have reached their end of support dates and that service for these versions will be discontinued over time. However, Windows 8.1 and 10 phones will still receive support but they will not be building new features for the platform because it is no longer their focus.

We have always known that the Windows mobile platform will eventually reach the end of the line and it looks like the end is coming very soon. With the end of support for the older versions and lack of focus for the newer versions, it looks like Windows Mobile users will have to look elsewhere for a mobile phone soon.
