Microsoft announces the Surface Book i7

Hardware was a part of the Microsoft event today, and the first of the two new hardware is an improvement over a pre-existing Microsoft product. It is the Surface Book i7, and it comes with souped up components as well as an expanded battery life.

In terms of design, the Surface Book i7 is pretty much identical to the current Surface Books. It still retains the hinge design, the full keyboard, the removable PixelSense display, and the Surface Pen. What is new on the Surface Book i7 is the coolers, as Microsoft has implemented a new thermal system that comes with a second fan into the Surface Book i7.

Performance is where the improvements can be seen on the Surface Book i7. While the proper specifications of the Surface Book i7 was not revealed on stage, we do know that the Surface Book i7 will be powered by Intel’s Skylake Core i7 processor. For the battery, Microsoft claims that the Surface Book i7 will last for at least 16 hours on a single charge, which is a 30% improvement in battery life over the pre-existing Surface Books.

The Surface Book i7 will be available for pre-order starting today, with the device being made available sometime in November. The Surface Book i7 will have an asking price of USD2,399 (RM9,976).
