It was only a little over two months ago when Xiaomi unveiled the flagship Mi Note 2 in Malaysia, in conjunction with Xiaomi’s opening of its first authorized reseller store located in Penang. The Chinese manufacturer has recently teased an upcoming handset with 6GB of RAM, and that has turned out to be the Special Edition of the Mi Note 2.
This new variant of the Mi Note 2 sports the exact same specs throughout, only with some tweaks in its RAM and storage size. Just a quick refresher, the Mi Note 2 sports a dual curved AMOLED display on the front measuring at 5.7-inches in Full HD resolution. Underneath the hood sits last years flagship Snapdragon 821 processor, which is still seen in this year’s LG G6 smartphone.
The model available in Malaysia comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and this new variant retains the same amount of RAM but has its storage size halved instead. This variant is only available in China time being, which can appeal to users who want the processing power but not too much of storage space.
The camera department consists of a 22.56MP rear camera and an 8MP front facing shooter. It comes packed with a 4,070mAh battery, and supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0.
The Mi Note 2 Special Edition is currently on discount at CNY 2,599 (RM 1,642.36) before reverting back to its original CNY 2,899 price point.
